Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman to pick India’s next coach

first_imgThe Cricket Advisory Committee comprising former captains Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and former middle-order batsman VVS Laxman will pick India’s next coach. (Anil Kumble’s application queers the pitch for Ravi Shastri )The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today shortlisted 21 candidates from the orginial list of 57 applicants, which included Ravi Shastri, Anil Kumble, Sandeep Patil and Praveen Amre. (Who will sit in judgement over Kumble? )The CAC will process and scrutinise all the applications, conduct interviews and seek presentations from candidates as the committee deems fit. However, the four-member committee also reserves the right to look at any of the other 57 applicants for the coaching job.The committee will operate from the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai and name its final choice to president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke by June 22. The board is expected to make an announcement on June 24. Shastri, who was named Team Director in the midst of India’s disastrous tour of England in 2014, continued in that capacity till the 2016 World T20 at home.The race to the coveted coaching job heated up when Kumble entered the fray.
