Damning Man United view: ‘Bluffer Van Gaal is making it up as he goes along’

first_img“Louis van Gaal is a bluffer and making it up as he goes along.”That’s the view of former England and Manchester City striker Rodney Marsh after he watched Manchester United limp to a 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils have struggled to impress under the Dutchman since his arrival at Old Trafford last summer and have won just half of their 24 games in the Premier League this season.“I looked at the Manchester United players and supposed system before the game and it looks to me like Louis van Gaal is a bluffer,” Marsh told the Sports Bar. “He’s making it up as he goes along.“There were three games there with Phil Jones taking corner kicks from the left-hand side. Now Wayne Rooney is playing on the right and Angel di Maria playing wherever he wants, whenever he wants.“Adnan Januzaj is on the left, who has then got the hump. The whole system of the team is out of sorts. I think Van Gaal, even though he’s had all these accolades over the years, has been found out and is bluffing his way through it.“It’s impossible to understand him,” he added. “Juan Mata is a fantastic player, who could fill that midfield role and then he could move Rooney up front alongside Robin van Persie or Radamel Falcao.“Both of them [Van Persie and Falcao] should be dropped to be honest. They are having nightmare seasons. Rooney is their best player, how in the world is he not playing up front is beyond me.”last_img read more
